I love any opportunity to use a Lucet.
As part of a recent rust dyeing session, I dyed a lovely bundle of vintage cotton string from the Arnold’s Attic stash.
This lovely rusty string came in very handy for some co-ordinated cord I needed for a new rust project I was working on.
I dusted off my Lucet and went to work making a batch of braid.

A box has been slowly filling up with rusty bits n bobs, some of which came from beach combing at Aldeburgh.
Bags full of fabric scraps, vintage bits and pieces of plain cotton were waiting, ready to dye.
Salty sea air and metal are a perfect combination to create the most stunning specimens of rust, especially if the surfaces are painted!
On a recent trip to Aldeburgh, I found lots of opportunities to photograph rust in it’s many forms. On a trip earlier in the day, I’d found some old irons in a vintage shop, but it was the weathered metal on the beach that really sparked my imagination.
